Privacy Policy

1. ABOUT FLOOR

FLOOR is a curated professional networking events platform serving Washington, DC. We help professionals discover and attend invite-only events, briefings, and receptions. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use floorapp.co.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password, or authenticate you via LinkedIn OAuth. If you sign in with LinkedIn, we receive your name and email address from LinkedIn — we do not store your LinkedIn credentials or access your LinkedIn connections.

Profile information. During onboarding, you provide:

  • First and last name
  • Mobile phone number (optional — used for SMS notifications)
  • Professional title and employer
  • Industry and years of experience

Event activity. We record RSVPs you submit, events you save, check-ins, and want-to-meet connections you make at events.

Referral data. If you join via a referral link, we store the referrer's user ID to credit the connection.

Technical data. We collect standard usage and analytics data — including device type, browser, IP address, and in-app behavior — through PostHog, our analytics provider. This data is used to improve the platform and is not sold.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

  • Create and maintain your FLOOR account and profile
  • Authenticate you via email/password or LinkedIn OAuth
  • Display your profile to event hosts when you request to attend their events
  • Send transactional notifications — RSVP confirmations, approvals, reminders, and host messages — via email, SMS, or push notification
  • Facilitate warm introductions between attendees at events you attend
  • Analyze and improve the platform through aggregated, anonymized usage data

4. SMS MESSAGING

If you provide a mobile phone number, you expressly and affirmatively consent to receive SMS text messages from FLOOR. Messages may include:

  • One-time verification codes (OTP) for account access
  • Event confirmations and reminders for events you have RSVP’d to
  • Important updates from event hosts

Message frequency varies based on your activity, typically 1–5 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance or contact us at support@floorapp.co. Providing your phone number and consenting to SMS is optional and is not a condition of using FLOOR.

5. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS

If you enable push notifications on your device, we may send you event reminders and updates. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or browser preferences. Enabling push notifications is optional and is not a condition of using FLOOR.

6. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only in the following circumstances:

  • With event hosts — when you request to attend an event, your name, title, employer, and industry are shared with the host so they can evaluate your request. Your email address and phone number are never shared with hosts.
  • With service providers — we use third-party services to operate the platform (see Section 7). These providers process your data only as needed to provide their services.
  • For legal compliance — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

7. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

FLOOR uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy practices:

  • Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure (US-hosted)
  • Twilio — SMS delivery for OTP codes and event notifications
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Vercel — hosting and edge network
  • LinkedIn — OAuth sign-in (only name and email are shared with FLOOR)
  • PostHog — product analytics (anonymized usage data)

8. DATA STORAGE & SECURITY

Your data is stored via Supabase on infrastructure hosted in the United States. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

9. DATA RETENTION

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes. Anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

10. YOUR RIGHTS

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at support@floorapp.co. We will respond within 30 days. You may also update your profile information directly in the app at any time.

11. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

FLOOR is intended for professionals 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notice before the changes take effect. Continued use of FLOOR after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
